Mob of Cats Attack Woman

Here's the link: Attack!

And here's the story:

"A woman was walking her dog at the edge of the woods when a group of feral French felines attacked her.

"The woman, 31, was walking her apricot poodle when six strays approached her and pounced.

" 'They scratched and bit my daughter and really went for her,' said the woman's mother, Josette Galliot.

“ 'They jumped on her and managed to knock her over. The wild cats bit her on the leg and on her arms. They even pierced an artery,' she said.

"The woman was taken to hospital where she received preventative rabies shots. Her dog was transported to an area veterinarian.

“ 'The vet told us that, in his 20 years in the job, he had never seen such a thing. He couldn’t find a single explanation for the cats’ abnormal behavior,' Galliot said.

“ 'We must get rid of this scourge,” continued Galliot. 'There are too many cats in the neighbourhood, many of which are strays. There are also lots of children here. We don’t want it to happen again.'

"Cats are typically solitary creatures, and do not prey on humans."

Now as to whether or not this is true or a Urban Legend I cannot determine. But it reminds me of where I used to live.

In the neighborhood there lived an elderly single woman from whose small house was emanating some rather pungent smells. When the police investigated they found a hundred or more cats.

The woman was apparently taken away and, I suppose, put in a nursing home. Al of the cats were taken to the vet, some had to be euthanized because of sickness, and the rest were adopted.

The house was apparently about ankle-deep in cat shit, and at first the city was thinking about tearing it down. However, a clean-up crew in Haz-Mat suits went in and cleaned up the place. I assume it was sold.

To this day I do not understand the obsession that women, especially older women, have with cats. It actually means "spinster."

Apparently the relationship between spinsters and cats has been noticed for a long time. Personally, I think that's the idea of cats being witch's familiars came from - people noticed some unpleasant, hostile old crone with six cats and decided she was a witch.

I could be wrong, but I don't think I am.
